The 8th NAMBOOK Festival 2017 (Nami Island international Children's book Festival 2017) is held from May 1 to October 31. This year's NAMBOOK festival, a biennial festival started in 2005, marks the 200th anniversary of H.C. Andersen's birth.

The festival includes various elements such as Andersen Picture Book Center exhibition where one can find artworks from Hans Christian Andersen Award Winners and Nominees, Nami Concours 2017 Award winners, Grand Prix BIB 1967-2015: Biennial of Illustration Bratislava, and others.

This year, 3 Danish illustrators were invited to Nami for a special exhibition as part of the festival. The unique works of renowned Danish illustrators Lilian Brøgger, Kamila Slocinska, and Cato Thau-Jensen will be exhibited at Nami Island under the title of <Magical Illustrated Stories from Denmark: A Land of Fairytales> until the end of October. On the 13th, there was a children’s workshop held with the three illustrators.

Nami Island is the official sponsor of the Hans Christian Andersen Awards, and NAMI Concours aims to provide artists with the opportunity to introduce their work on a global scale so that illustrators throughout the world can be inspired to create high quality works of art.
