H.E. Hanne Fugl Eskjær, Arctic Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark, visited Seoul on March 5-6, 2018 with the ambition to explore the possibilities of a closer collaboration between Denmark and South Korea concerning the Arctic region.

Her delegation included Nick Bæk Heilmann, representing the Government of Greenland, and Margretha Nónklett, representing the Government of the Faroe Islands.

During the visit, the delegation met with different Korean stakeholders, including both governmental and private representatives.

Furthermore, the delegation hosted a tourism event promoting Greenland and the Faroe Islands at Mikkeller Bar in Gangnam on Monday evening. The event was facilitated by the Innovation Center at the Danish Embassy in Korea.

The visit has resulted in a renewed enthusiasm to develop the good relations between the Kingdom of Denmark and South Korea in order to overcome the challenges and explore the opportunities in the Arctic region. The Ambassador commented on the visit: “South Korea is a very important partner in the Arctic and the Kingdom of Denmark appreciates the significant contributions made by South Korea – being a Permanent Observer to the Arctic Council - in the Arctic region”.
