The Danish Presidium conducts official visit to South Korea

This week, the Danish Speaker of Parliament, Pia Kjærsgaard, and representatives from the Danish Presidium conducted a successful first visit to Seoul, South Korea. The Speaker of Parliament met with her South Korean counterpart, the Speaker of the National Assembly, the South Korean Prime Minister and the Minister for the Interior. During these meetings, the Speaker of Parliament emphasized the importance of the strategic partnership between Denmark and South Korea and expressed her hopes for a closer parliamentarian cooperation in the future.

From March 5th to 9th 2018 Danish Speaker of Parliament, Pia Kjærsgaard, and representatives from the Parliament's Presidium conducted a successful first time official visit to South Korea. The speaker and the representatives from the Presidium met with the Speaker of the South Korean National Assembly Mr. Chung, Prime Minister Mr. Lee and Minister for the Interior Mr. Kim. At these meetings, the Danish Speaker emphasized the importance of the strategic partnership between Denmark and South Korea and expressed her hopes for a closer parliamentarian cooperation in the future.

The Presidium visited South Korea at a historical moment on the Peninsula, and obtained a first-hand glimpse into the current situation through visits to the Demilitarized Zone, meetings with the Neutral Nations Supervisory Command, who monitors the cease fire on the Peninsula, and meetings with UN-agencies working with North Korean defectors. The Presidium also laid a wreath at the National War Memorial to honour the Danish contribution to the Korean War and the sacrifices made for South Korea's freedom.
