‘The Northern Lights’ festival to be held in November

The Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs is hosting a Nordic Culture Festival in collaboration with the respective embassies of Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden in Korea.

The ‘Northern Light’s Nordic Culture Festival introduces the diverse cultures and arts of the four Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden). The festival will be held from November 24th to the 30th at the JCC Art Center and JCC Creative Center in Seoul. The aim of the festival is to enhance the understanding and interest in Nordic culture among Koreans, promote the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, and strengthen the relationship between Korea and the Nordic countries.

Starting with a joint opening ceremony on November 24th, the ceremony will include performances and congratulatory speeches. Following the opening, there will be joint concerts on November 25th-26th, followed by individual cultural performances beginning with Denmark (November 27th), Finland (November 28th), Norway (November 29th) and Sweden (November 30th). Each country will showcase a number of carefully curated performances, films, and plays for children.

In addition, the festival program will include a photography exhibition titled, "Human and Nature" where each country will showcase beautiful images, artist talks, a Nordic book café including cartoon character displays and drawing stations, as well as a PR zone promoting the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics and Paralympics.
