Embassy of Denmark Promotes Danish Green Growth in Korea

23.07.2015  09:42

As a part of his green growth “roadshow”, Danish Ambassador Thomas Lehmann participated in the Diplomatic International Forum of Seoul (DIFOS) held 11 July by the Hugh O' Brian Youth Leadership Foundation Korea. The lecture focused on Denmark’s experience in transitioning from a fossil fuel dependent economy to one that promotes green growth. The Ambassador’s participation gained the interest of Korea Herald, the biggest English-language newspaper in Korea. Read the article here.

The lecture came at a timely occasion, as on 9 July Denmark added another chapter to its green energy success story with producing 140% of its energy needs via wind energy. Denmark plans to have 50% of its national electricity consumption supplied by wind power in 2020. On the city-level, Copenhagen aims to make Copenhagen the first carbon neutral city in the world by 2025.

For those interested in Denmark’s green profile and initiatives, the COPENHAGEN SOLUTIONS organized by the Embassy of Denmark in Seoul will be held 19 August-8 September 2015 at the Seoul City Hall lobby. The exhibition will showcase many solutions that have contributed to Copenhagen becoming one of the most green and liveable cities in the world. Free admission from 09:00-20:00 from Monday to Sunday.
