On 16 September, the Embassy of Denmark in Korea successfully conducted a virtual Korean-Danish Business Network (KDBN) seminar under the theme, “The Green New Deal: A Danish-Korean Opportunity for Growth and Economic Recovery". Participating in the webinar were H.E. Einar Jensen, Danish Ambassador to Korea; H.E. Yeoncheol Yoo, the Climate Change Ambassador of Korea; H.E. Tomas Anker Christensen, the Climate Ambassador of Denmark; Kim Chang Soo, the Director of the Global Environment and Science Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea (MOFA); and key Danish companies in Korea.

The Green New Deal is expected to have an immense impact on the Korean society and its industries. As such, the webinar provided insight to the participating companies for the new way of doing business with fruitful discussions on Korea's Green New Deal, as well as further business opportunities and cooperation between Denmark and Korea.

Ambassador Jensen opened the webinar by introducing the KDBN and the embassy's focus on Korean-Danish cooperation, concluding with his observation that Korea and Denmark are continental leaders in the green sector. Ambassador Yoo spoke about Green New Deal as a tool for growth in a post-COVID-19 landscape. Ambassador Yoo also touched upon the P4G (Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030), updating participants on the progress and opportunities for displaying green solutions via the P4G platform.

Ambassador Christensen focused on the importance of the role of the private sector, job creation, and climate partnerships. He was followed by Director Kim, who emphasised that the Green New Deal requires actions from all sectors of the economy as well as a more inclusive approach that includes NGOs, civil societies, start-ups, and more. The webinar concluded with a Q&A session with the Danish companies.

The embassy thanks everyone who participated in the webinar and hope it provided invaluable insight to adjust to the business to a new economic landscape focusing on sustainability.
