The Embassy
of Denmark in Korea will host ‘A Greener Future: A Talk on Sustainable
Lifestyles’, an online seminar aimed at promoting a more sustainable lifestyle.
The event will be held exclusively on Zoom on December 17, from 4PM to 5:30PM.
Speaking at
the event will be Selina Juul, the Founder and Chairman of the Board of the
Stop Wasting Food movement in Denmark. Also speaking will be Kumsook Ko,
environmental activist and co-founder of the Almang Market. Together, the
speakers will provide insight into how everyone, in their daily consumption of
food and products, are currently contributing to the issue of waste and
environmental degradation, and suggest alternative methods and habits to be
more sustainable in our daily lives. A live Q&A session will be held where
participants may engage with the speakers directly.
Selina Juul
will emphasize the importance of reducing food waste and introduce the Stop
Wasting Food movement, which has been credited for the significant food waste
reductions in Denmark for the past decade. She will touch upon easy to follow
habits and actions that one may adopt in their daily routines that can reduce
food waste.
Kumsook Ko
will cover the hidden aspects of waste and waste recycling, and present on how
to better incorporate a zero waste lifestyle in our daily habits. Ko co-founded
Almang Market this June, as a zero waste store and re-fill center where
customers bring their own containers and shopping bags to purchase eco-friendly
daily items such as shampoo, detergent, toothbrushes, and more.
“The amount
of single use plastic and waste being thrown away has steeply increased all
around the world during the COVID-19 pandemic. The embassy hopes to create an
opportunity where we, as consumers and individuals, can think about what we can
do in our daily lives to contribute for a greener future for all,” commented
Danish Ambassador Einar Jensen, on introducing why the embassy organized this
event. “This event aims to answer the question: How can we all be more
sustainable in our daily life?”
The
ambassador added, “I hope that by hearing from these experts who have been
practising sustainability in their daily lives, and by engaging in dialogue
with them, we will all be inspired to consciously make sustainable choices as
we go about our daily lives. The speakers are living examples that show that
each and every one of us can have a meaningful impact on our society and on the
Earth through our actions.”
The webinar
requires pre-registration via the embassy’s registration web page (http://bit.ly/3oImxRx) or by email. Those signing up by email may do so by sending their [Name /
