The Kingdom of Denmark

Denmark might be located north, but actually two other parts of "The Kingdom of Denmark" are located even further north - Greenland and the Faroe Islands.

Even though, Greenland is a part of the North Atlantic and Faroe Islands is a part of the North American Continent the two countries have been a part of the Kingdom of Denmark since the 14th century.

Today both Greenland and the Faroe Islands have a self-government agreement with Denmark. The agreements transfer political competence and responsibility from the Danish political authorities to Faroese and Greenlandic political authorities, while the Danish government retains control of foreign affairs and defence.
