The Embassy of Denmark in Korea is looking for a dedicated and dynamic commercial officer to create value and increase business for Danish companies in South Korea.

As our Junior Commercial Officer, you will be part of a dynamic trade team at the Embassy with 15 trade advisors, counsellors, assistants, and trade interns.

The Embassy of Denmark in Korea is ambitious and has a close collaboration with Denmark’s leading companies. Our main motivational driver is to grow sustainable Danish exports to South Korea and to build strong relationships with our Danish partner companies, primarily within the sectors of healthcare, food and agriculture, tech, Design, energy, maritime and defence.

You will be part of the Trade Team and work in close coordination with the Embassy Management. As our Junior Commercial Officer, you will not specialise in one sector only but be responsible for working across teams in any sector such as healthcare, food and agriculture, tech, Design, energy, maritime and defence. This will give you a unique insight into various industries, and secure a broad network across the embassy and among Danish companies.

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

As Junior Commercial Officer, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Working closely with Danish companies across sectors healthcare, food and agriculture, tech, Design, energy, maritime and defence.
  • Identifying and establishing business-to-business contacts for the clients
  • Gathering, analysing and presenting information primarily about market opportunities in different sectors
  • Preparing market and partner reports
  • Organising events and delegations (including high-level ministerial delegations) to and from Denmark
  • Planning and setting up Danish companies’ visits to South Korea
  • Providing support for promotional activities
  • Independently and proactively organise and be responsible for all practical, logistical, administrative and procedural needs pertaining to the above tasks.
  • Actively work across teams and sectors to foster collaboration

Desired Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for the position as Junior Commercial Officer, you must meet the following requirements:

  • A relevant university degree in Business Administration, Communication, or other commercially-oriented graduate degree. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional commercial or public affairs experience within a relevant sectors, preferably combined with experience in sales, marketing, market surveys, etc.
  • Working experience in consultancy, an Embassy or an international organisation
  • A strong understanding of Korean business environment
  • A strong understanding of the public administration and regulations of industries
  • Analytical mind-set and ability to think creatively and take a proactive role in achieving work goals and objectives.
  • Excellent networking skills, preferably with professional contacts in relevant government entities and/or in the commercial market.
  • Ability to work independently and as a constructive and supportive team member across the Embassy, often under time pressure with the outmost dedication to planning, independent execution and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills including fluency in Korean and English (verbal and written).
  • Prepared to travel regularly to Denmark and internally in South Korea
  • Flair for IT, analytical tools and CRM systems.

Employment conditions

  • You will be offered full time permanent employment on a local contract based on the relevant legally binding labour market rules of South Korea.
  • Your standard working hours will be 37.5hours/week on the basis of flexible hours schedule.
  • You will be entitled to 25 days of paid holiday per year.
  • Your salary will reflect your qualifications and experience.
