The Embassy of Denmark in Korea is looking for an experienced and ambitious Political Officer. You will be part of the Politics/Public Diplomacy/Culture Team at the Embassy, mainly involved in the day-to-day operation in a dynamic environment consisting of highly motivated Danish and Korean staff members.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Research, analyse and report on current political developments in both South and North Korea, focusing on foreign and security policy, with occasional coverage of defence issues.
- Develop and maintain a network of key stakeholders in Korea, including Korean authorities, other embassies, and relevant organizations, to support Danish government interests and bilateral cooperation. This may include representing the Embassy at conferences, seminars, and events.
- Assist in organizing bilateral meetings and incoming high level visits, and coordinate matters related to the substance of visits.
- Support the Embassy’s work in protocol matters, as well as tasks related to Public Diplomacy and cultural efforts.
- Undertake additional tasks as assigned by the Embassy Management.
Your work will be closely coordinated with the Ambassador and the Deputy Head of Mission.
Desired Qualifications and Experience
- A relevant university degree or equivalent professional qualification.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in political affairs, international relations, or a related field.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to understand and report on complex political and security issues.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement, including networking and relationship-building in an international or diplomatic context.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Korean.
- Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively within a team.
- A high degree of professionalism, discretion, and a positive, proactive attitude.
Employment Conditions
The Embassy of Denmark offers a fixed term contract until 31 December 2026. The position is full time with variable working hours. Your salary will reflect your qualifications, relevant experience and proven work-related results.
