Marriage registration in South Korea
The Embassy of Denmark does not facilitate or register marriages for Danish nationals, either in Denmark or South Korea. However, due to the complexities of documentation requirements, the Embassy often receives inquiries on this topic. The following information is provided to assist Danish nationals who wish to register their marriage in South Korea. For further details, please contact the local authorities.
Requirements for marriage registration in South Korea:
- Ægteskabsattest (Certificate of Marital Status): This can be obtained from your municipality in Denmark or the Family Court (Familierethuset). Please note that the Embassy cannot issue this certificate on behalf of Danish authorities. For more information on obtaining the certificate, visit borger.dk Når I vil giftes.
- Korean translation of the Certificate of Marital Status.
- A copy of your passport.
Additionally, we advise you to contact your Korean district office to confirm if an Apostille is required for the document. If necessary, the Apostille can be obtained through the Danish Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Copenhagen. More information can be found under Legalisering/Apostille.
